This gallery contains a collection of Ivory which was found in the Assyrian capital, Nimrud. The ivories were made between the 9th and 8th centruries BC. They were used to decorate the palace furnishings of the Assyrian kings. They were used in chairs, beds, tables and boxes. Some of these objects were also decorated with precious stones and gold. The ivories were made in the area spanning from Syria to the Phoenician coast. The collection of ivory reflects the schools of art production at that time as well as the international relations between ancient countries.

This does not belong with the ivories.
